        They are all gone away,
        The house is shut and still,*
        There is nothing more to say.

        Through broken walls and gray
        The winds blow bleak and shrill;*

        Nor is there one today
        To speak them good or ill:*

        Why is it then we stray
        Around that shrunken sill?*

        And our poor fancy-play
        For them is wasted skill:*

        注释：

        *这是悼念美国9.11事件和被飞机撞毁的纽约世贸中心大楼的诗歌。
        题目指的就是世贸中心。本诗内容十分简单，最大的特点就是不断
        重复两句话：“他们都不在了”和“再也没什么好说了”。表明世
        贸中心已毁，人们感到十分绝望。特别是“再也没什么好说了”一
        句，表达了诗人深切的痛心和怀念，连对大楼的回忆都无从下笔了。
        本诗韵律十分简单和有规律，节奏为抑扬格，压韵都是/ei/, /il/
        和/ei/。

        *房子关着而一切寂静。

        *残垣断壁间，只有孤零零的寒风在尖叫。

        *如今也没有人谈论它们的好坏。

        *为何我们还要在剩下的基石前久久徘徊？

        *我们为他们所作表演再稀奇也不过是浪费技巧。

        *曾经的山峰之巅也只有废墟一片。
