Red Morning*
Sohelia Dehmassi from Seneca College
Do you remember?
we were going to the beach,
You were reading your poem to the sea and stars.*
you coughed and took a sip of hot tea,
and cleaned your lips with the back of your palm,
And you were still reading.
I know,
somewhere,
you are still reading poems,
and singing songs about spring, fall and winter,*
about the certain coming of the red morning,
And about birds who tried to sail to infinity*.
you are singing and singing,
And I cannot hear your songs.
I will ride on the wind
in every street and dark valley,
I will knock on closed wings of all windows
and I will beg everyone in the name of love*,
in the name of every bird,
every rose,
the sea and stars,
And I will ask:
Where are his poems?
I will cry:
Where are his poems?*
